We couldn’t be prouder of our amazing community! Since our launch in April 2024, Waypoint Crew has achieved an epic feat: tackling our first summit – Mt Toubkal, the tallest peak in North Africa at a whopping 4,167 meters with WeRoad.

This legendary hiking adventure was packed with altitude, challenges, laughter, and views that could knock your socks off. Here’s a little teaser of how our adventure with our fantastic community went down.

After an unbelievable time in Marrakesh, where we zoomed around on quad bikes, soaked up the sights, took refreshing dips in the pool, and devoured a late-night dinner before catching some Z’s, we headed for the mountains the next day.

Day 1: Mt Toubkal Base Camp – The Ascent Begins.

Our adventure kicked off in Imlil (1740m), a charming little village nestled in the jaw-dropping Atlas Mountains. After a pep talk from WeRoad and our trusty guides, we double-checked our essentials - sleeping bags, extra layers, and most importantly - snacks! Then, we set off on our epic journey.

Bursting with excitement, we were blissfully unaware of the endless zig zags that lay ahead.

📏 Distance: 11km

📈 Altitude gain: 1,466m

⛰️ Views: Absolutely epic

🐐 Wildlife: More goats than people

🥵 Heat factor: Like hiking in a tagine

Highlights included:

  • Snack breaks: Refuelling with Pringles and Hawaii juice – the gourmet choice of champions.

  • Lunch stop at Sidi Chamarouch: Enjoying tagine, mint tea, and the beautiful surroundings.

  • Afternoon push: Jaw-dropping mountain views and mountain goats flaunting their superior hiking skills. Show-offs!

  • Arrival at the refuge (3206m): An incredibly cosy 25-bed dormitory with ice-cold showers and dinner tagine - the ultimate spa experience for the adventurous. We even bunked with a fellow hiker from London who had heard of Waypoint Crew. Fame at last!

We set our alarms for 2:30am, buzzing with excitement for summit day and ready to tackle Mt Toubkal’s final ascent, armed with nothing but determination and a questionable amount of tagine.

Day 2: Summit Day – 4,167m of Pure Adventure.

📏 Distance: 16km

📈 Ascent: 960m

📉 Descent: 2,427m

⛰️ Views: Unbelievable

🥵 Challenge level: Pretty brutal

After giving everyone in our dorm an unexpected 2:30am wake-up call (huge apologies to those who were still clinging to their dreams 😂), we packed our gear and hit the road.

Summit day kicked off in the pitch-black darkness with a 3am gourmet feast of bread, Dairylea triangles, porridge, and boiled eggs. Bon appétit.

With headtorches beaming, we charged up a never-ending incline under an unbelievable sky full of stars. We had plenty of chances to stop and peel off layers, quickly realising we were dressed more for a polar expedition. Every pause was a chance to munch on snacks, and despite the altitude and incline, trying to play the villain, we kept on trucking.

As the sun decided to grace us with its presence, we reached the ridge, and the view was absolutely INSANE – the air was thin, our muscles were on fire, but our spirits were sky-high. We took a moment to bask in the sunrise and snap some selfies, but it was so chilly we couldn't hang around long.

A final push got us to the pyramid summit - what a rush! It was tough, steep, and utterly exhausting, but the energy, laughs, and team camaraderie made it an unforgettable moment.

Then came ten years' worth of quad-crushing downhill antics in just one day. We took a pit stop at the refuge to catch our breath and refuel, preparing for the never-ending descent to the mountain's base... only to be greeted by a sneaky uphill climb to our guesthouse (because why settle for one summit when you can have two?).

By the time we staggered back to our guesthouse, we were so wiped out we could barely walk straight. We wolfed down some tagine (...please, no more), ready to rise and shine for the final 5km slide down to Imlil (1740m) the next morning.

What a day. What an effort. An experience we'll never forget. Couldn't be prouder of everyone for completely smashing it!

A True Bucket List Moment.

Climbing Mt Toubkal in Morocco (4,167m) with these legends was a true bucket list moment.

It was like a workout from the depths of fitness hell, exhausting and a real test - but totally worth every aching muscle. Couldn’t be prouder!

From the world's biggest sleepover at the refuge, to endless laughs, a 100% summit success rate, more tagines than you can shake a stick at, and the never-ending bowel movement chat. Thank you all for making this trip so special and for being part of this amazing community.
